## Why are potatoes bad for guinea pigs?

The institutional lists mark potato poisonous without naming a mechanism, and we won't guess beyond them: no peer-reviewed feeding study of potatoes or their toxins in guinea pigs exists. What the register does show is agreement — a university teaching hospital (RVC), a national welfare charity (RSPCA), a state agriculture department (Agriculture Victoria) and a rescue organization (Wood Green) all list the same food as unsafe.
